Primary schools
Anna and her team can take her students on an African experience like no other, using a large selection of African drums, costumes and props for storytelling, drumming, dance and singing. Our workshops are ideal for introducing African topics into a range of subjects, including Geography, Science, PE and Maths. Anna provides an in-depth understanding of Africa, encouraging open discussions an honest Q&A. As she says herself, “some of the questions which arise from the sessions are amazing, but it’s a pleasure to know they come from a genuine interest”.
Sessions can accommodate up to 30 students for of up to an hour with a whole school assembly before or after to allow pupils to take part.
High Schools
Anna Mudeka and her team of associates have created an impressive and exciting package for High Schools, much of which arises from their latest show Kure Kure/Faraway which toured in 2019. The package includes an assembly presentation and activities pack which can be purchased separately or, for a fuller African Experience, Anna and her team are also available to visit schools and enhance the experience for students and teachers.
These packages are ideal for Refugee Week, Black History Month, Music and Drama School projects.
A short film from Notre Dame High School, giving a flavour of this ambitious and educational package can be viewed below:
Feedback
Below is an example of feedback from Anna’s visit to Sheringham Woodfields School
Hi Anna,
Thank you so much for yesterday, I have had amazing feedback from the children and staff and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. Feedback is still coming in but as an example the teaching team who work with our PMLD groups (our children in chairs who are also non-verbal or deaf/blind) sent me the following,
“Anna was amazing with all the PMLD pupils she communicated so well with them, they joined in and the whole session was fully inclusive. They all got so much out of the session and there were lots of smiles, communication and interaction. Elm class would love to do this again!”
Communication and interaction for these pupils is the thing we prioritise and value above all else but is also the thing that is most difficult to achieve so I would like to thank you for your skilful approach, your openness and your kindness which allowed this to happen.
Take care,
Michael
