Following the resounding success of the 2024 UK tour, Anna Mudeka returns in 2025 to the stage as Mama Afrika sharing her interpretation of the life of Dr Miriam Makeba in a powerful one-woman, multi-faceted show available to book now

Anna Mudeka, tells the remarkable life story of singer, songwriter and civil rights activist, Dr Miriam Makeba, charting her rise from the townships of Johannesburg to global star, forced into exile for her stand against apartheid and marginalised for championing Black rights. Told in four character incarnations chronicling a life blighted by hardship, tragedy and struggle, Mama Afrika features many of Makeba’s best loved songs including Mbube, Pata Pata and Soweto Blues, embodying her irrepressible spirit and integrity and which earned her the legendary status of Mama Afrika.

Mama Afrika features a 90 minute solo performance by Anna Mudeka and is produced for family audiences of all ages. Scripted by Zimbabwean writer Tomas Lutuli Brickhill, musical direction by John Vigar at Tontena Music, backing soundtrack recorded by Zimbabwean multi-instrumentalist Ziva Guveya and Directed by Tonia Daley Campbell.
