Mama Afrika 2025 returns to the East of England

It has been fun being on the road again touring Mama Afrika show, meeting new people and sharing the remakable life story of the late Dr Miriam Makeba. One audience member at Bury met wrote:

Hi Anna

Thank you so much for coming to Bury last night with Mama Afrika. It was the best thing I’ve seen in a long time. I came away thinking if someone filmed Dr. Miriam Makeba’s life or made a T.V. series I wouldn’t want to watch because you’ve already done it so perfectly.

Your singing and dancing were brilliant, your acting took me through all all sorts of emotions and I saw you aging without the aid of wigs or prosthetics.

Please tell everyone involved in the writing, staging, props, costumes, sound and lighting how fantastic they are.

I was grateful too that, although there was a lot in the performance that was upsetting, it was also funny and uplifting. I needed that performance at a time when the world feels so awful.

Looking forward to seeing, whatever you do next.

Such is the power or theatre and telling stories which we must continue to do and inspire each other by giving hope, no matter how small. Next stop is Norwich Playhouse 7th of November which is now sold out and then West acre 8th of November with only two seats left. Failling that why not make an evening of it in Bury St Edmunds at the Apex on the 12th of November or Colchester 20th of November. Feeling adventurous?
